A contract-funded Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the area of biomaterials is available beginning January 1, 2020, for 1 year initially with the possibility of an extension. The ideal candidate will have a degree in dentistry or a related discipline, with at least 2 years of research experience.

The successful candidate must possess:

  • A PhD degree in biomaterials, polymer chemistry, or another closely related discipline.
  • Proficiency with the following techniques:
    o Mechanical characterization tests (flexural strength, diametral strength, compressive strength, tensile strength, ultra microhardness, fracture toughness, fatigue tests, etc.)
    o Chemical characterization tests (FTIR, Raman, TGA, EDX, etc.)
    o Bond strength tests (shear, microshear, tensile, and microtensile tests)
    o Microbiological screening tests for biomaterials (MIC, MBC, CFU, etc.)
    o Experience with scanning electron and confocal microscopy
    o Statistical analysis and image software
    o Additional complementary techniques would be considered beneficial
  • Experience supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to arrange and present data using computer software.
  • Proficiency in writing scientific publications in English.
