PROGRAM DIRECTOR – GRADUATE PERIODONTICS
Department of Dental Diagnostic and Surgical Sciences
Applications are invited for a full-time tenured or tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position as well as a 5-year renewable term as Graduate Program Director in the Division of Periodontics, Department of Dental Diagnostic Surgical Sciences at the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2020 or as soon thereafter as possible.
The appointee must have completed full-time university-based Periodontics specialty training and be a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) or be eligible for the RCDC/NDSE (National Dental Specialty Exam). A proven record of scholarly activity and publication would be an asset. Graduate and/or Undergraduate clinical, and teaching experience in Periodontics is required and experience in Research and Grant application is preferred. A Specialty Master’s degree and/or PhD in Periodontics is preferred.
A Graduate Program Director appointment is a five-year term appointment. Responsibilities and duties associated with the position include: all aspects of Graduate Program Administration, Revenue and Budgeting, Student Recruitment and Selection, Chairing the Admissions Committee, Evaluating student progress, Curriculum Review, Clinic and facilities Management, Staffing (Academic/Support/Dental Hygiene), Inter-Disciplinary Collaboration and Research Oversight of Graduate Students. This position will liaise with the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Commission of Dental Accreditation of Canada. This position is in the Department of Dental Diagnostics and Surgical Sciences in the Division of Periodontics. The position may include Academic responsibilities in the Undergraduate Periodontics Program.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the Manitoba Dental Association in one of its dental specialist licensing categories (Bylaw for Registration and Licensure of Dentists (2013)) www.manitobadentist.ca. Extramural practice privilege is available one day per week upon application and signing of a Private Practice Agreement.
