The University of Texas School of Dentistry, a part of UT Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), is accepting nominations and applications for the full-time, tenure- or non-tenure track position of Associate Dean for Patient Care at the associate- or full-professor level. The position will be available September 1, 2019.
The School of Dentistry seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, and service have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to excellence in dental education. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds and have a focused commitment to inclusion and equity.
The Associate Dean for Patient Care is the chief clinical officer of the School of Dentistry and oversees all patient care activity for the school. In this role, the Associate Dean leads the school’s pursuit of its vision statement, "Improving Oral Health … Improving Overall Health." Key areas of responsibility include dental school clinic operations, clinical education, community outreach and the electronic health record system.
Personnel reporting to the Associate Dean include the heads of the Division of Clinical and Educational Services, the Division of Patient Services, plus the directors of clinical education and community outreach. The Associate Dean for Patient Care reports directly to the Dean and serves as an integral part of the school’s administrative team, providing innovative leadership in clinical care, education, technology, simulation and practice.
Applicants must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent, with advanced training (GPR/AEGD, specialty or other certificate/degree) strongly preferred. A demonstrated record of teaching, academic leadership, clinical education, and clinical administration is required, as are credentials meriting appointment to the rank of associate or full professor. The Associate Dean for Patient Care will have the opportunity for faculty practice, and applicants are expected to have prior clinical teaching and/or private-practice experience, as well as eligibility for licensure or faculty licensure in Texas.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
