The UWSOD is a 12-month service school. The Department of Restorative Dentistry is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Practice, depending on qualifications. The appointment is not tenure-eligible but is eligible for promotion. Appointment terms range from 1 to 5 years for Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice and 1 to 7 years for Associate Professor of Clinical Practice; generally, three years minimum for initial appointments. There is no limit on the number of reappointments.

The successful candidate will serve as the Director of Maxillofacial Prosthetic Service. They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across UW Medicine in the management of complex maxillofacial oncological and trauma patients, serving Washington state and the broader WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) region.

The Director of Maxillofacial Prosthetic Service will engage productively in clinical activities and provide clinical care to maxillofacial patients at the UWSOD, oversee the fiscal and clinical operations of the Maxillofacial Prosthetic Service, including staff management, and teach both didactic and clinical courses mandated by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation (ADA CODA) for the Graduate Prosthodontic program. The ADA CODA mandated courses include providing oral rehabilitation (attending in the Graduate Prosthodontic clinic), lecturing on Maxillofacial Prosthetic concepts and treatment, conducting literature reviews in fixed, removable, or implant prosthodontics, and participating in treatment planning seminars. The individual may also conduct original research and/or mentor graduate students in research for the Master’s degree program. Service is also expected at the department, school, university, local, national, or international level.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a DDS/DMD degree or foreign equivalent and completion of a post- graduate program in Prosthodontics accredited by the ADA CODA, the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC) or the General Dental Council in the United Kingdom. Additional fellowship training in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics or at least 5 years’ clinical experience in treating maxillofacial prosthetics patients. Eligibility for Washington State Dental Licensure is also required.

Salary and Benefits

The base salary range for this position will be $15,833 - $18,333 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
