 Position Summary: Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) seeks outstanding applicants for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant (to Associate) Professor of Clinical Dentistry level, within the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC).

Responsibilities: Didactic and clinical teaching, and supervision of residents in the Pediatric Dentistry training program; providing direct patient care as part of the faculty and community practice; potential opportunities working in the operating room; participation in ongoing clinical and translational research programs; and other collaborative activities within EIOH, URMC and the Rochester community.

Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester is unique among academic health centers in the United States: despite the absence of an undergraduate dental school, we have internationally recognized dental residency programs, vibrant oral biology research that is in the top tier of NIH rankings, and robust clinical services in all dental specialties with a strong community orientation. Through our clinical services, the Department of Pediatric Dentistry provides 23,000 patient encounters to children from 250-mile radius. We are the only pediatric dentistry residency in the area providing high-level hospital dentistry service. Access to care is an important issue in this area for pediatric dentistry. For this reason, our mission is also to increase access to care through our training program. As we train dentists who are competent and comfortable treating children and patients with special healthcare needs, we expand our service to our community. Instead of changing one smile at a time, we are multiplying our community impact exponentially though nurturing the next generation of oral health advocates and educators.

The EIOH and its Department of Pediatric Dentistry has nurtured numerous outstanding academicians around the world– many of whom became pillars of the profession. It is one of our endeavors to inspire and nurture the next generation of dental educators through our extensive faculty development opportunities.

Education/Experience:  Requires a DDS/DMD from a CODA accredited U.S. or Canadian Dental School or equivalent, completion of a CODA approved Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program and or Fellowship, Board Certification or an Active Candidate for Board Certification/ Board certification, credentials and eligibility to attain a New York State dental license, and post-offer health assessment. Previous experience in hospital dentistry and NYS sedation permit preferred.

Salary and Benefits:  Rank and salary is commensurate with education and experience. The opportunity for additional compensation is available through intramural faculty practice. The University of Rochester offers a comprehensive benefit package for eligible staff.
