The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, Department of Oral Health Practice, Center for Oral Health Research is seeking applications for a tenure track position, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor. The College of Dentistry is seeking to increase its Clinical Translational Research activities in the areas of Oral Health and oral and systemic inflammatory conditions, with particular emphasis in Oral Health Disparities and Public Health. A faculty member with excellent track record in research is needed to assist in ongoing research initiatives in the Center for Oral Health Research. This faculty member will also participate in the College’s Clinical and teaching activities related to dual degree program development in the college (DMD-PhD and DMD-MPH programs).
This faculty member will be responsible for the development of new clinical translational research activities in the Center for Oral Health Research, which will include a variety of community-based projects and partnerships with the College of Medicine/Medical Center, College of Public Health, the Center for Health Equity and Transformation (CHET), and in connection with the College of Dentistry’s international programs. Areas of clinical translational research interest should include health disparities, epidemiology, inflammation and/or preventive programs. Position expectations include: (1) expertise in oral inflammatory conditions and associated diseases or susceptibility to these conditions and (2) leadership to help develop clinical-translational community-based research programs associated with these conditions. The faculty member will be assigned some teaching responsibilities as well as expected to contribute to the development of dual degree dental programs (including a DMD/MS-PhD program in collaboration with the Colleges of Public Health and Medicine).
The faculty member will develop and conduct clinical translational research consistent with research mission and goals of the College of Dentistry and the Center for Oral Health Research, participate in developing and sustaining community-based oral health research programs, contribute the development of new dual-degree dental programs in the College of Dentistry, and Participate in clinical and didactic teaching in pertinent programs.
