Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position, term appointment, at the level of assistant or associate professor in the Department of General Practice Dentistry. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities will include the education and training of undergraduate and graduate dental students through state of the arts in dental technology including digital dentistry. The department is seeking a new generation of faculty members who are well versed in operative dentistry, dental materials, digital dentistry and educational experience. The School has recently established a new Center of Digital Dentistry that is a main clinical and laboratory resource for digital dentistry in all areas including teaching, research and clinical services. The faculty will be expected to have three primary responsibilities in teaching, research and service. Participation in faculty practice and research is encouraged.

Applicants must have a DDS or DMD degree or foreign equivalent, and a certificate in operative dentistry. Also required are strong leadership skills, good communication skills as well as team building ability. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in a humanistic environment of new technology in adult learning and education. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in an incorporation of active learning, multimedia learning, as well as blended "flipping the classroom" learning into the evidence-based oral health care and critical thinking.

A history of preclinical and clinical DDS teaching from a highly regarded dental school is preferred. Also preferred are a demonstrated ability to adapt to change through modern technology in education and dentistry; demonstrated experience in research related to biomaterials and digital dentistry and potential for industry-related research collaborations.

The candidate must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
