Assistant / Associate Professor, Department of Periodontics
Virginia Commonwealth University
School of Dentistry

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position, term appointment, at the level of assistant or associate professor in the Department of Periodontics. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:
The faculty member will have clinical and didactic teaching responsibilities within both the predoctoral and postgraduate programs of the Department of Periodontics, to include development and management of departmental curricular offerings. Participation in faculty practice, student mentoring, research, and dentistry-related community service activities will be strongly encouraged.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have: a DDS or DMD or equivalent degree and have completed an advanced training program in periodontics; be eligible for licensure in Virginia; have experience in teaching clinical and didactic periodontics as a trainee or faculty member. Candidates must also desire to participate in the School’s predoctoral and postgraduate instructional programs and have the desire to mentor future dental practitioners and demonstrate the ability, or acquire and develop such ability that incorporates adult learning theory, evidence-based oral health care, innovation in student learning, and critical thinking. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to contribute to and participate in a humanistic environment of learning and discovery and adapt to change and embrace modern technology. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required. Preferred qualifications include Board Certification by the American Board of Periodontology; research experience and training; and the desire and ability to serve as a faculty research mentor
