The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) School of Dentistry is recruiting for two tenure track Faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Periodontology. The Department has a strong history of scholarship and research, a significant role in the pre-doctoral curriculum, an outstanding graduate program in Periodontology leading to a MS and an active intramural dental faculty practice. We are seeking scholarly periodontists with specialty training with/without a PhD who are outstanding educators, clinicians, researchers and mentors. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in teaching at the pre-doctoral and graduate Periodontology levels; establish a research program that may be clinical, basic or translational; obtain external research funding; publish in peer reviewed journals; participate in duties consistent with school and university requirements for performance, scholarship, and service; and the to ability participate in the Dental Faculty Practice.

Educational Requirements: DDS/DMD or equivalent dental degree and Periodontics/Periodontology specialty with or without PhD/equivalent.

Qualifications and Experience: Seeking early to mid-career individuals with demonstrated potential for independent and collaborative research. Experience in providing periodontal didactic and clinical training is required. Must be eligible to participate in the Dental Faculty Practice. Prefer applicants with demonstrable grant seeking experience and at least 2 years of experience in academia beyond speciality or postdoctoral training. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to diversity, inclusivity and collegiality is required.
