Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program Director Position
Department of Oral Surgery & Hospital Dentistry

Indiana University School of Dentistry is seeking applications for the position of Program Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Residency Program in the Department of Oral Surgery & Hospital Dentistry at Indiana University School of Dentistry. This is a clinical track position. Qualified applicants must be eligible for appointment at the rank of clinical assistant/associate professor at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.

The Indiana University OMFS department and residency is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and is the sole program within the State of Indiana and is a self-established referral source to the OMFS in the State. The faculty and residents cover several interconnected facilities on the downtown campus, (including IU Health University Hospital and Simon Cancer Center, IU Health Clarian Hospital, Eskenazi Hospital, and Riley Children’s Hospital at IU Health), with Clarian, Eskenazi and Riley having the only level 1 trauma centers in the State.

Responsibilities of the director of the OMFS Residency program include resident selection, didactic and clinical instruction of oral surgery residents; serving as a preceptor for the residents in the graduate and pre-doctoral oral surgery clinics, and other hospital activities. It is expected that the program director will facilitate optimal oral surgery clinical experiences for the residents and foster collaborative relationships with other clinical departments within the dental school, the Oral Maxillofacial Predoctoral Program and our partnering hospitals. The ideal candidate should have a keen interest in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures with an emphasis on resident education. Participation in hospital on-call service is required.

Service expectations include attendance and participation in departmental graduate oral maxillofacial surgery case conferences and school-level committees, and attendance at school graduation ceremonies.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a US dental degree from a CODA accredited DDS/DMD program. In addition, qualified applicants must 1) have completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2) be eligible for licensure in the State of Indiana, and 3) be board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
