This position is for a full time Clinical Assistant/ Associate Professor position. The purpose of the Clinical Social Worker position is to serve in the Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences and as a member of the inter-professional team in the Orofacial Pain and TMD Clinic. The Clinical Social Worker will participate in the design, implementation and evaluation of the Social Work - Dentist Model which is an innovative, integrated care approach to treat patients with Orofacial Pain conditions. The social worker will be involved in psychosocial assessment, supportive limited counseling, behavioral intervention in person and/or via telehealth, discharge planning, and referral, and participation in multidisciplinary treatment team. Functions:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the addition of social work services and interventions for patient care in the Orofacial Pain Clinic, addressing barriers and complexities of oral health care for vulnerable and underserved populations, including, but not limited to behavioral health needs, and complex psychosocial issues.
- Educate postdoctoral students and faculty to assess and include biopsychosocial domains of health in clinical care.
- Collaborate with UB School of Social Work and its Field Education Program to maintain the field placement site for social work student(s); providing direct supervision and coordination.
- Participate in project team meetings and activities, including curriculum development for postdoctoral education.
- Develop and deliver proper courses for the structured teaching of the pertinent behavioral health curricula in the field.
- Collaborate with project team members on dissemination activities including presentations at relevant dental and social work conferences and manuscript submissions for publication.
