Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine (WLHSDM). This is a unique opportunity for an innovative leader to implement a new DMD degree program in a new dental school.
TTUHSC El Paso is experiencing vibrant growth. The community of El Paso has provided significant funding to address a critical health care need. El Paso County has been designated as a Dental Health Professional Shortage Area (DHPSA) and a "high need" area for dental care providers with only one provider for every 5,000 people (Texas Health Resources & Services Administration, 2017). WLHSDM will become the fourth school at TTUHSC El Paso, which also includes the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
The school’s mission is to improve the oral health of the people of Texas and the greater El Paso community by: a) focusing on the unique oral and overall health care needs of the border populations; b) demonstrating excellence in education, research, and patient care; c) providing leadership to the practicing community and other area stakeholders.
The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will report to the dean and provide administrative leadership for the DMD curriculum and lead the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) self-study and site visit planning. The Associate Dean will oversee curricular development, program planning, assessment, academic policy development and strategic planning.

D.D.S./D.M.D. from a CODA accredited institution
Leadership skills, with a proven record of a minimum of 5 years of administrative achievements that
demonstrate interpersonal skills and management expertise
Demonstrated record of significant and successful administrative experience in an academic institution
Track record of innovative curricular design, pedagogy and education assessment methodology
History of meaningful involvement with the CODA accreditation process and American Dental Education
Association (ADEA) sponsored initiatives
Working knowledge of curriculum planning and management
Eligible for faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or higher
